Hangzhou National Security police kidnap Jin Jimin

On Tuesday, September 29, 2015, the Hangzhou Intermediate People’s Court tried China Democracy Party members Chen Shuqing and Lü Gengsong for the crime of subverting state power. Many human rights defenders braved a typhoon and torrential rain to go to the courthouse to show their support. Because many other China Democracy Party members and democracy activists were sent on trips or restricted at home by the authorities, only a handful of activists who for many years had advocated in their own cases and received the support of others courageously showed their solidarity. But the court exercised strict control and didn’t let these people enter. Everyone gathered at the court entrance, protesting in support.

Below the Qiutao Road traffic overpass, traffic police were lying in wait. When they saw Liang Liwan and Xu Guizhu riding their electric scooter, more than a dozen police swarmed and used as an excuse their lack of a vehicle license to seize the scooter. Liang Liwan and Xu Guizhu saw that the police were deliberately finding fault to prevent supporters from going to the court, so they walked away and braved the torrential rain to go to the court and join the other protesters.

Onlookers said that Hangzhou’s present police authorities are real thugs. They illegally prosecute democracy activists and also detain people and steal vehicles.
