Boxun reported Tuesday September 22, 2015 that attorney Li Fangping went to the Fujian Province, Yongtai County Detention Center to visit his client Wu Gan (aka The Butcher) today, but was denied permission to see his client. Shortly after prosecutors completed their initial investigation of Wu Gan on the criminal charge of inciting subversion of state power and formally authorized his arrest, he was taken away and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Since Xiamen City’s Siming Public Security Bureau notified Wu Gan in late June he’d been detained on the criminal charges of “Picking quarrels and provoking troubles and inciting subversion of state power,” the unit handling the case, on the grounds of “endangering state security crimes” refused his attorney Yan Xin permission to visit him. Three months after being detained, on September 22, 2015 attorney Li Heping went to the Fujian Province Yongtai County Detention Center and requested a meeting.

Prosecutors in the detention center revealed that Wu Gan had been criminally charged with the crime of inciting subversion of state power, was taken away, and his whereabouts are unknown. They told his attorney to address follow up questions to the work unit overseeing the case and the procuratorate.

At 5 p.m. today attorney Li Heping received a telephone call from Yongtai County Detention Center and was told that the units handling the case refused his request to see his client Wu Gan.
