Military parade concludes, Beijing pollution immediately returns

On Friday September 4, 2015 Boxun reported that the Beijing Anti-Fascist parade had just ended, and the “Fascist Blue” clear skies had also disappeared. Beijing’s normal heavy pollution immediately reappeared.

The air quality monitor in the U.S. Embassy in Beijing recorded an air quality index of 155, moderately polluted and harmful to health. Beijing’s officially released air quality index was 70. When the parade began at 10 a.m. Thursday September 3, the U.S. Embassy recorded an index of 25.

Beijing resident Tibetan writer Woeser posted a photo of Beijing on Twitter, accompanied by the commentary: “The ‘Military Parade Blue’ was quickly replaced by thick smog. It’s not that it can’t be blue, it’s that the authorities don’t have the will to reduce Beijing’s pollution. So the smog is back….”
