Residents of Tibetan areas in Sichuan Province prohibited from traveling abroad

Boxun’s correspondent has learned that residents in Tibetan areas of Sichuan Province are prohibited from traveling abroad or to the Chinese regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The following is the notification prohibiting foreign travel obtained by Boxun: “From now” (May 20) ” until July 15, 2015, residents of Garze, Aba, and other Tibetan Autonomous Prefectures of Sichuan Province, and the Sichuan Province capital of Chengdu, are prohibited from traveling abroad as well as to the Chinese regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

“All travel agencies please take note: All tourists seeking to travel abroad between Wednesday May 20, 2015 and Wednesday July 15, 2015 must submit valid IDs (passports and identity cards) for inspection prior to being issued tickets! Otherwise the travel agency shall bear all the consequences! ! !”
