Ministry of Public Security will begin fighting online “political rumors”

Boxun report: China’s media industry has been notified that next Monday May 18, 2015 the Ministry of Public Security will begin fighting online “political rumors.” Targeted are four categories: 1. Denigrating Xi Jinping and other national leaders; 2. Denigrating Chairman Mao and other of revolutionary elders; 3. Denigration of official propaganda; 4. Denigration of the Communist system and ideology. Everyone is required to self-censor microblogs (Weibo), WeChat, the Internet and all social media and purge any vestige of suspicious content. The notice says that this is a very serious initiative and if content like this is discovered people will immediately be detained.

Also, the National Internet Information Office (Network Information Office) announced the 2015 national Internet “anti-pornography” work plan in late April. One of the focuses is “Cleansing 2015,” the comprehensive clean-up and fight against “Hong Kong and Taiwan reactionary harmful information and Overseas harmful culture. ” Full-time deputy director of the National “Anti-Pornography” Office Zhou Huilin earlier revealed that this year’s “anti-pornography” work would be focused on the Internet as the main battleground. At the same time as the online campaign, local governments have received orders to cooperate and in all ports and markets “confiscate reactionary material and information from Hong Kong and Taiwan that attacks the Communist Party and state leaders.”
