Film producer Shen Yongping will be released from prison on Monday April 27

Boxun’s correspondent has learned that “A Century of Constitutionalism” film producer Shen Yongping’s “crime of conducting illegal business” second trial period has been extended two months. Since the first trial resulted in a criminal sentence of one year in prison, and the one year sentence ends Monday April 27, 2015, it’s possible that a verdict on the second trial will be reached before he is released.

Just 34 years old, democratic constitutionalism pioneer Shen Yongping graduated from Beijing University as a Modern History major. He published the book “Include and Exclude the Communist Party of China: The Truth of China’s National Revolution.” Because of his production of the eight-part documentary film “A Century of Constitutionalism,” on April 29, 2014 Shen was criminally detained by the Beijing Public Security Bureau Chaoyang District police on suspicion of the “crime of conducting illegal business.” On June 4, 2014 he was formally arrested by the Chaoyang District Procuratorate, and incarcerated in the Chaoyang District Detention Center. On July 28, 2014, he was indicted in Chaoyang District court. On November 4, 2014 his trial began. On December 30, 2014, he was sentenced to one year in prison.
