Auxiliary police beat business owners

On Monday, March 2, 2015, in the West Gate Market of Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, two merchants trying to get their confiscated goods back were beaten with wooden stools by auxiliary police. The merchants’ family members blocked the police officers’ vehicle in protest, and this attracted hundreds of observers to surround and watch the conflict. A large number of police and riot police arrived at the scene and took away the beaten merchants. After this the surrounding people dispersed.

An eyewitness netizen said: “The auxiliary police seized the merchants’ belongings. The merchants went with good intention to try to retrieve their property. Several young police had wooden stools behind their backs and attacked the merchants. They beat two people to the ground. The merchants’ family members blocked the police officers’ vehicle in protest. Many observers can confirm this.”

Another eyewitness netizen LIXINY said: “I was also a witness, the police beat the people’s heads bloody. Another person’s tooth was hit and bleeding.”
