On Tuesday February 17, 2015 Boxun issued an urgent warning: an activist-in-exile has returned home. He doesn’t want to be forcibly repatriated again. This activist is freelance reporter Wang Ning.

At the time Boxun issued this notice, because of Wang Ning’s bad experience his last trip home when he was deceived into going out and many other people were dragged into his trouble, this time Wang Ning has proactively prepared to avoid this. After a day on the telephone making arrangements, the relevant local government official said they wouldn’t again require a face-to-face meeting. On Chinese New Year’s Eve, Wang Ning saw that the vehicle following him had already left from in front of his building. That afternoon, Wang Ning accompanied his mother to go out shopping and didn’t notice any surveillance of them.

It’s understood that on this trip Wang Ning intends to discuss bringing his mother to New Zealand. But his two younger brothers refused to visit their mother’s house for Chinese New Year while Wang Ning is there (one of his younger brothers is a government official, the other a businessman). Wang Ning is very disappointed by this.

In addition to visiting relatives and taking his mother abroad, Wang Ning also demands the local government return his property seized on his last visit. From Wang Ning’s character and circumstances, the authorities shouldn’t interfere in his trip home to visit his mother and relatives. After he arranges all his business, letting him leave China is the best solution for all involved.

The Communist Party regime should realize that not letting exiles return home to see their families for political reasons is contrary to filial bonds. During this year’s New Year’s TV special, Party leader Xi Jinping said: “We should emphasize the building of healthy families, stress family education and family traditions.” The government should take the lead in this regard and set a positive filial example.

The following is a video of Wang Ning’s reunion with his mother:
