For supporting Occupy Central, activist Ye Xiaozheng arrested for “creating a public disturbance.”

Huizhou City, Guangdong Province: Democracy activist Ye Xiaozheng (whose netizen name is “Boat on a lake”) was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 for “creating a public disturbance.”

His wife, Mrs. Zhong, said her husband had been detained on Jan. 14. Police said that he and several friends had supported the Occupy Central protests in Hong Kong, which was considered ‘creating a public disturbance.’ The police also searched the house and took a computer, cell phone and other articles.

Ye Xiaozheng is a civil rights activist. Some years ago he served as editor of some websites. Because of his dissenting speech he was forced to resign. After this he helped local petitioning victims with their cases, and many times he participated in political activities calling for freedom and democracy.
