Shapingba District, Chongqing City, Sichuan Province: On Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, auxiliary police drove away street vendors. Vendors returned and obstructed the road in protest.

Dozens of auxiliary police carrying clubs and bricks fought with the vendors, attracting more than 1,000 city residents to watch. The clash continued until that night when the vendors and city residents were dispersed by police firing shots into the air.
An eyewitness netizen said: When it broke out they attacked each other with rods, stones and liquor bottles. Then it escalated and became savage. They chased city police down several streets. After two hours the auxiliary police reassembled and were augmented by many police.
