4-year-old falls to her death in broken elevator

Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province: A 4-year-old girl fell from the second floor to the basement in a broken elevator about 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at the Wanda Shopping Center. She died from serious injuries.

On the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 20, the dead girl’s family demonstrated outside the shopping center, carrying memorial wreaths and a banner saying “Return our daughter, give us justice.” Police officers beat and arrested some of the demonstrators.
