Police seize woman’s corpse after suspicious hospital death

Li County, Changde City, Hunan Province: On Dec. 13, 2014, a pregnant woman in People’s Hospital died after getting an IV drip. Because the cause of death was suspicious, her family members went to Changde City on Monday, Dec. 13 to request an autopsy. But more than 100 police officers intervened and seized the corpse. The hospital suggested that a private settlement was best and offered the family ¥50,000 to resolve the dispute.

On Tuesday, Dec. 16, the deceased woman’s family went to the hospital seeking an agreement, but police officers confronted them. More than 10 were arrested.
