Land for food crops taken without payment

Cenqiao Collective, Ganlin Village, Heli Township, Heshan City, Guangxi Province: On Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 villagers marched to city government headquarters  carrying a banner saying: “Destroyed our land, intolerable injustice, overthrow corrupt and crooked officials..” Police appeared and arrested 15 protesters.

Villager “Ordinary Road 188” said: Beginning in December 2011, Heshan City began to level more than 300 mu of Cenqiao Collective paddy fields. Too many small stones got into the soil and it can’t be cultivated now. For three successive years the villagers had no paddy fields to plant in. That year a township official said that by April 2012 the work would be finished and villagers could grow food. If it wasn’t finished the villagers would get ¥780 per mu, but until now the land hasn’t been fixed and no compensation has been paid.
