At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 in Yongtai New Village, Guangzhou City, traffic police set up a roadblock to check vehicles. According to an eyewitness, a male riding a motorcycle tried to flee from the road block. He may have been operating a motorcycle taxi, which is illegal. A policeman fired at least three shots, killing the motorcycle driver. He laid on the ground for a long time. Officers did not try to resuscitate him.
That day at noon, the dead man’s family gathered at the site of the shooting. They carried a banner reading: “Police kill a man, give us justice.” Hundreds of city residents came and watched the protest. In the afternoon, traffic police and riot police dispersed everyone.
