Thousands of citizens protest construction of waste disposal plant in Boluo County, Guangdong Province

In Boluo County, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province last Saturday 10,000 people marched. This Saturday September 20, 2014 city residents again demonstrated. Thousands of citizens gathered early in the city center and marched. Local government dispatched more than 1,000 police to blockade the city center and obstruct all roads. This continued until noon, citizens were beaten and some were injured.

Huizhou and Boluo governments sent police to guard every roadway and forbade citizens to protest march. Anti-riot police broke up the protests and soldiers were awaiting orders in the Boluo Cultural Square.

At the same time information posted by citizens on the Internet was censored by the government.

From September 13-14, 2014 Boluo County saw protests involving more than 10,000 people. They were protesting the government allowing the contruction of a 2600-ton per day waste disposal plant. They encountered many police and were beaten and arrested. More than 20 citizens who were arrested are still in custody.
