(BOXUN) On May 16, 2014, Jiang Lijun, Sun Haiyang, and Ning Xianhua were arrested and held on criminal charges. Jiang Lijun was framed with the crime of “inciting subversion.” Ning Xianhua revealed to the media that Jiang Lijun and Sun Haiyang were arrested for writing online articles critical of the government and officials. For this reason a court officer says the 425 special investigation team was set up.

沈阳公安局长公报私仇,姜力钧被酷刑

Boxun previously reported that one of the problematic articles was “Prior to Liaoning’s Two Meetings [Provincial People’s Congress and CPPCC] Provincial Capital Shenyang carried out large-scale arrests of  rights activists.” The content included “Shenyang City Public Security Burea Director Xu Wenyou is a very bad man. He’s also a former member of the standing committee of the Politburo of the provincial Communist Party. He’s Zhou Yongkang’s diehard follower. When Zhou Yongkang was Minister of Public Security, he built a large-scale development, Three Foundations Project, in Shenyang. It was a 10 billion yuan investment. Xu Wenyou was able to amass a fortune from this.”

After Jiang Junli was arrested he was held in Shenyang detention center on serious criminal charges. Those who’ve been released from the detention center said that they could hear the shouts of Sun Haiyang and the others being tortured.

On August 20, 2014 Jiang Lijun’s case was sent to the Shenyang Procuratorate for prosecuting. But his lawyer wasn’t notified. Defense attorney Ding Xikui saw Jiang twice on September 18-19, 2014. Each time they met for more than an hour. Jiang Lijun showed his lawyer injuries on both his hands, and an abdominal tumor was visible. He was injured by being kept in irons for a long period of time. It’s said that because he couldn’t stand the torture Jiang Lijun signed the criminal confession. Because it’s an ongoing case Defense attorney Ding Xikui can’t say more on the matter.

Jiang Lijun, because of his pro-democracy activities, was imprisoned in 2002 for the crime of “subversion of state power.”
