Police injure at least a dozen people in Guangxi province protest

In Fengxi village, North township, Fuchuan county, Hezhou city, Guangxi province a developer wanted to build a mineral water plant in a famous ethnic minority natural scenic area and began building a factory without consulting with the local villagers. On Monday August 25 the government sent 300 police to confront the villagers and conflict ensued. Several villagers and police were injured, more than 10 hospitalized and two villagers beaten by the police were left with fractures. The villagers surrounded the police and attacked them with bricks and stones. For four hours they took refuge in the Fengxi Elementary School. (Boxun: It’s not clear from the report whether the villagers or the police took refuge in the school.)
