The head of Unity Village in Xiazhai Township, Zhangzhou Municipality, Fujian Province, sold its elementary school to a buyer who wanted to demolish it. The villagers didn’t agree to this. On Thursday August 14, the government sent a large number of police, SWAT team members, and other law enforcement officers to ensure the school was torn down. They encountered a group of villagers defending the structure and a conflict ensued. After one villager was injured, others chased the officers away and confiscated a SWAT vehicle and an ambulance.
