Serious Riots in Sichuan Province

On November 10, 2006, a serious riot happened in Guangan, Sichuan Province. Some students and police were injured, people said two students died.

On November 8, one 4-year old boy was denied treatment because his grandfather did not have enough cash, the boy died two hours later. The source said the boy had drunk pesticide.

On November 9, family and relatives of the boy set memorial at the entrance of the hospital. Many people came to the scene, and police came.

On November 10, more people came, including the middle school students. Unconfirmed source said that one student posted the information on Internet, police arrested him/her. Students were angered. As a result, the crowd destroyed the hospital and put police vehicles on fire. The riots continued until the early morning of November 11.

At least two sources told Boxun that 2 or more students were killed, dozens injured.
